Linda V. Alaniz

Ms. Linda V. Alaniz is in her first year (2004-2005) as school board trustee and is currently serving as Vice-President of the board. Mrs. Alaniz is a Rio Hondo High School graduate and is honored to be serving the Rio Hondo community. Ms. Alaniz has a Master of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College (UTB/TSC), and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas A&M University/Corpus Christi. Ms. Alaniz has been employed for 16 years in the educational field that includes working with Texas State Technical College, UTB/TSC, UT-Pan American, Region One ESC, and Rio Hondo ISD. Ms. Alaniz is President of a private business called Educational Research Institute (ERI), a grants management firm. ERI specializes in research, grant analysis, grant writing services, budget reviews, and evaluation services for colleges, universities, non-profits, and school districts. Ms. Alaniz has been married for 10 years to Oscar Alaniz. Mr. Alaniz is employed as the managing attorney for the Texas Attorney General’s Office in Harlingen. Mr. Alaniz has been actively involved in the Rio Hondo community by serving as City Commissioner for the past four years. Oscar and Linda are proud parents of Lorenzo (6) and Alonzo (3) both of whom either attend or will be attending the Rio Hondo Elementary school district. Ms. Alaniz states that her board experience has been very rewarding and she has gained a great wealth of information that has been very helpful in answering the concerns of her constituents. Her goal is to continue to expand on the educational services and programs being brought to the district. Ms. Alaniz states that although the district is moving in the right direction and progress is evident, she reminds parents, students, and staff “If opportunity doesn’t knock, come by and help us build a door.” As active participants, we can create greater opportunities and accomplish much more for our students. |
