Dr. Mayte Lozano-Chapa

Dr. Lozano-Chapa is a lifelong learner with a passion for children, education, and her community. She takes pride in listing Rio Hondo High School as her alma mater.
She is a Ph.D. graduate in Organizational Leadership Studies from Our Lady of the Lake University at San Antonio. She also holds a Master's Degree in Education with a specialization in Guidance and Counseling and Special Education Counseling through the University of Texas in Brownsville, a Bachelor's Degree in Education through The University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg, and an Associate's Degree through Texas Southmost College in Brownsville. She currently holds valid certifications in the following areas: Principal, Regular Education Counselor, Special Education Counselor, and Teacher.
Dr. Mayte Lozano-Chapa has over 25 years of experience in the field of education. She has extensive experience in leadership, administration, counseling, and teaching. Before coming to Rio Hondo ISD, Dr. Lozano-Chapa worked at Region One as an Adult Education Instructor teaching adult basic education skills, GED classes, and ESL classes while she completed her Ph.D. coursework and dissertation. She also worked with Texas A & M University-College Station as a Special Education Student Teacher Supervisor, and the University of Texas-Pan American as a Bilingual Student Teacher Supervisor and Lecturer.
